Douglas C-133 Cargomaster
Item Number: C1090Douglas C-133 Cargomaster airplane model. The C-133 was a four-engine, turboprop transport that surpassed earlier Douglas military cargo airplanes in size and speed. The final Cargomasters were built and delivered by Douglas in 1961. NASA utilized the Cargomasters for drop-testing early space capsules and transporting various space products. In total, Douglas constructed 50 Cargomasters; however, following the C-133, the company did not produce military-specific transports for another decade.
