Douglas DC-4 TWA airplane model. The Douglas DC-4, an American four-engine propeller-driven airliner, was developed by the Douglas Aircraft Company. Its military variants, the C-54 and R5D, were active during World War II, participated in the Berlin Airlift, and continued service into the 1960s. Post-1945, the DC-4 was widely used by civil airlines across the globe.
