Lockheed TV-2 Shooting Star Navy airplane model. The Lockheed TV-2 was the Navy version of the Air Force T-33B which was a two-seat trainer derivative of the single seat P-80. Developed by the Air Force as the TF-80C trainer and produced as the T-33, the Navy began to procure production models of the new trainer aircraft in 1949. Designated TV-2 by the Navy, the two-seat Lockheed aircraft was to be used as advanced instrument trainers. In 1951 some were modified for guidance and control duties in connection with missile and target trials. In this capacity, some of the TV-2s were used as drones.
