Laird LC-DW Super Solution

Laird Super Solution airplane model. This spiffy little biplane won the 1931 Bendix Race, piloted by James Doolittle and with an average speed of 217 mph. The next year, a retractable landing gear was added, but it failed during its test flight and Doolittle had to make a wheels-up landing. The resulting damage caused it to cancel its entry in the Bendix race.
