C-141 Starlifter airplane model. In 1965, the StarLifter joined the MAC, boasting a spacious cabin that could hold up to 154 troops, 123 paratroops, or 80 stretchers with room for 16 walking casualties or attendants. While its capabilities were showcased during operations in Vietnam, it became clear that in-flight refueling was necessary and that the C-141As were often exceeding maximum capacity. In response, Lockheed was contracted for a prototype conversion, resulting in the C-141B with a 23 ft 4 in longer fuselage and added refueling capability. The first C-141B took flight on March 24, 1977, and 270 surviving C-141As have since been converted, with the final one being delivered on June 29, 1982. The aircraft was equipped with four powerful 21,000-lb thrust Pratt & Whitney TF33-P-7 turbofans, boasting a top cruising speed of 566 mph.

Mahogany Wood. Scale: 1/100. Wingspan 19 1/4 inches, Length 20 1/4 inches.

Starlifter

This model is a great representation of the actual aircraft. I received one from the guys and girls of the 315th Airlift Wing in Charleston AFB upon retirement.
It holds a place of honor in my home office.
