HOK-1 / HH-43 USMC

After showcasing the capabilities and design of the K-225 to the US Navy and Coast Guard, which led to purchases by both (two by the Navy and one by the Coast Guard), Kaman received a contract in 1950 to create an entirely new helicopter for the Navy. This helicopter, designated HOK-1, was to be constructed according to rigorous military specifications. The initial deal called for the production of four prototype aircraft to meet the US Marine Corps' need for an Observation Helicopter. The maiden flight occurred on April 21, 1953, and production lasted until 1958.
