Item Number: 821Design efforts commenced in 1956, and the Gulfstream I prototype took its maiden flight on August 14, 1958. The FAA awarded Type certification on May 21, 1959, with production aircraft deliveries starting in June of that year. Significantly, the Gulfstream I was the first American twin-engine corporate transport certified for cruising at 30,000 feet.
