Rust's Flying Service DHC-2 Beaver airplane model. The de Havilland Canada Beaver is the company’s pioneering bush plane and its top-selling aircraft, with close to 1,700 built over two decades. Developed starting in 1946 with valuable collaboration from the Ontario Department of Lands and Forests, it was crafted to be a tough, versatile utility plane. The prototype first flew on August 16, 1947, seating five or six passengers. By the time it earned civil certification in March 1948, the design had evolved to carry up to seven passengers, making it even more practical and sought-after.
