Lockheed C-141 Starlifter airplane model. In April of 1965, MAC began operating the StarLifter, featuring a spacious cabin that could accommodate up to 154 troops, 123 fully-equipped paratroops, or 80 stretchers with seats for 16 walking casualties or attendants. During its missions in Vietnam, this aircraft demonstrated impressive capability. However, it became clear that inflight refueling was needed and the C-141As often exceeded their physical capacity. To solve this, Lockheed was contracted to create a prototype conversion of a C-141A, resulting in a 23 ft 4 in lengthening of the fuselage and the addition of inflight refueling capability. The first flight of the C-141B prototype took place on March 24, 1977, with 270 surviving C-141As being converted and the final one delivered on June 29, 1982. This aircraft was powered by four engines.

Mahogany Wood. Scale: 1/100. Wingspan 19 1/4 inches, Length 20 1/4 inches.
