Boeing BBJ airplane model. Boeing Business Jets, established in July 1996 as a collaboration between Boeing and General Electric, created a corporate version of the well-known 737 airliner, starting with the 737-700 BBJ. The first BBJ was introduced at Boeing's Renton facility on August 11, 1998, and took its maiden flight on September 4. The US FAA certified the 737-700 airframe, the basis for the BBJ, on October 30. The inaugural BBJ was delivered on September 4, 1999, marking a new era in luxury corporate aviation.
