Douglas DC-7 Pan American Airlines airplane model. The DC-7 was the final propeller-driven transport aircraft produced by Douglas. Introduced in May 1953, it entered service with American Airlines in November 1953. It was the first transport capable of flying westbound across the United States the prevailing winds. Douglas manufactured DC-7s and delivered last one in 1958. Most DC-7s were later modified as freighters or scrapped, while some were retained for air, aerial firefighting and satellite tracking.
