Item Number: 9073CT-114 Tutor airplane model. The Canadair CT-114 Tutor, also known as the RCAF Tutor, was designed and manufactured to meet the Royal Canadian Air Force's needs for a basic jet trainer. It was a product of Canadair Limited, which now falls under Bombardier Inc., and was selected by the RCAF after thorough evaluation. Featuring side-by-side seating and a single engine, this all-metal aircraft was designed for the training of student pilots with a focus on instrument, night, and navigation techniques. It was also equipped with all necessary instrumentation and certified for Instrument Flight Rule conditions. The majority of its components were electrically operated, but hydraulic systems were used for the landing gear, wing flaps, speed brakes, nose wheel steering, and wheel brakes. The aircraft was powered by General Electric J-85 CAN 40 jet engines produced under license by Orenda Ltd, which is now under the Magellan Aerospace Company and develops 2,700 pounds of maximum continuous static thrust at sea level.
