Bell AH-1 Cobra helicopter gunship. The AH-1 Cobra / Army has a wide range of capabilities, including helicopter Close Air Support (CAS), escorting transport helicopters and ground convoys, conducting armed reconnaissance, launching air-to-air attacks, carrying out anti-shipping operations, and providing coordination and terminal control for fixed-wing CAS, artillery, mortars, and naval gunfire. This versatile attack helicopter is the only one in the west with a proven ability to launch air-to-air and anti-radar missiles. While the rear seat pilot is responsible for maneuvering, the front pilot has full control of the aircraft's powerful weapons systems and other controls.
