The upgraded A-6E, which debuted on February 27, 1970, boasted two robust Pratt & Whitney J52-P-8B turbojets, enabling it to reach incredible speeds of up to 644 mph, a service ceiling of 42,400 ft, and a range of 1,011 miles. With an impressive armament capability of 18,000 pounds, the A-6E proved to be a formidable fighter, with over 660 variants built and delivered to the US Navy and Marine Corps by the end of its production in 1990, including 360 A-6E's (120 new and 240 converted from A's).
