The Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star 318 FIS is a versatile two-place jet designed for pilots already skilled in flying propeller-driven aircraft. Developed from the F-80 fighter, this T-33 has an extended fuselage of just over 3 feet to accommodate a second cockpit. Its first flight took place in March 1948, and production continued until August 1959 with a total of 5,691 T-33s built. Beyond its primary use as a trainer, the T-33 has performed other important roles such as directing drones and towing targets, and has even been utilized as a combat aircraft in some countries. The RT-33A version, designed for reconnaissance and primarily used by foreign nations, features a nose camera and additional equipment in the rear cockpit. With its impressive abilities and notable service history, the T-33 remains a globally recognizable aircraft, having served in over 20 different air forces for nearly 40 years.
